The director of the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO), Helena de Senna Fernandes, yesterday took part in a press conference in Beijing yesterday which was organized by the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA).
During the event, the director talked about the preparations for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) tourism ministers meeting.
She said that the meeting is a chance for APEC members to further understand the Eastern and Western cultural heritage in Macau, as well as a chance to showcase Macau to the world.
The director also revealed that the MSAR government has finished preparations for the venues, the reception of international delegations, the media reception, and security measures.
Li Shi Hong, the head of CNTA’s department of tourism promotion and international liaison, revealed that, by August 25, 60 delegates from 15 economies and international organizations had already fully registered for the meeting.
The APEC tourism ministers meeting first took place in 2000. It is held once every two years. The meeting in Macau next month will be the first APEC tourism ministers meeting to be organized in China.
