Customs seize 7.56 tons of smuggled frozen meat at HZMB

Customs officers at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge recently intercepted a cross-border truck smuggling 7.56 tons of undeclared frozen meat, including steak and pork. The seizure occurred earlier this month during an inspection at the Zhuhai Highway Port Outbound Freight Inspection Site, where suspicious items were detected through machine screening. Authorities reminded exporters that failing to declare or evade commodity inspections can result in fines ranging from 5% to 20% of the goods’ value and possible criminal charges under the law.
