MGTO promotes GBA links through Korea and Thailand market exchanges

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has organized a series of exchange and familiarization activities for its market representatives from Korea and Thailand, aiming to encourage tourism operators to develop new multi-destination travel products across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The initiative seeks to leverage the region’s diverse tourism resources and international transport network to create seamless travel experiences for overseas visitors, while strengthening cooperation among tourism industries across the GBA.
As part of the program, MGTO deputy director Cheng Wai Tong led a 21-member delegation comprising MGTO representatives from Korea and Thailand, as well as local tourism and transport operators, on a familiarization visit to Shenzhen and Guangzhou on July 7 and 8.
Assisted by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, the delegation visited key transport facilities, including international visitor service centers, high-speed rail stations, border-crossing bus services, cruise terminals and land ports of entry.
According to a statement by MGTO, the visit provided participants with a deeper understanding of the GBA’s transportation infrastructure and connectivity.
The bureau said the exchanges would help tourism operators identify opportunities to create higher-quality multi-destination products targeting international markets.
On July 9, MGTO hosted a workshop in Macau focused on developing tourism products for Korean and Thai visitors, with Shenzhen and Guangzhou international airports serving as key entry points for overseas travelers heading to Macau and Hengqin.
The workshop brought together representatives from Macau’s travel industry, tourism transport operators and the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. Participants discussed potential tour routes combining the attractions of Macau, Hengqin, Shenzhen and Guangzhou through existing transport links.
During their stay in Macau, the market representatives also explored the city’s “tourism+” offerings, including cultural tourism facilities, gastronomy, sports experiences, community tourism projects and the Mak Mak Experience Hub.
To further promote sports-related tourism, MGTO arranged an exchange session with the General Association of Athletics of Macau focusing on running tourism. The discussion aimed to explore new marketing opportunities and highlight Macau’s appeal among younger travelers from Korea and Thailand. Times Reporter
