Illegal lodging operation uncovered in massage parlor

A joint operation conducted by the Public Security Police (PSP) uncovered an illegal lodging operation inside a massage parlor on Avenida do Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues, where 37 beds were placed in a public corridor near the premises. The raid led to the detention of a local man in his thirties.

The PSP said the operation was conducted in collaboration with government authorities. During the inspection, officials found 20 mainland Chinese individuals – 16 men and four women – along with one local Macau resident on the premises.

The operator, identified as Leong, a Macau resident in his thirties, was also detained.

One mainland Chinese individual was found to be overstaying his permitted period of stay. During questioning, those present claimed they paid MOP100 per day as a “rest fee.”

Leong is suspected of violating Article 71 (Sheltering Unlawful Entrants or Overstayers) of Law No. 16/2021. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecutions Office for investigation, while the overstaying individual has been handed over to the PSP Immigration Department.

Following an investigation by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the establishment was confirmed to be providing illegal accommodation services.

An administrative penalty proceeding was initiated immediately.

The premises were also found to involve unauthorized construction or potential fire safety risks, which have been referred to the Office of the Secretary for Transport and Public Works (DSSOPT) and the Fire Services Bureau for follow-up. Ricaela Diputado
