New Era provides bus driving licenses

coluna-IMG_0805New Era is organizing training courses to train more bus drivers, according to a report by Jornal Cheng Pou.  The course is provided with hopes of alleviating the shortage of bus drivers. People who hold Macau resident identities and have either ‘C licenses’ or have three years of experience driving a private car with a ‘B license’ can apply.  New era will initially pay for the students’ tuition fees, then, once the student obtains their D1/D2 license and completes one year of full-time work at the company, the tuition fee will be fully waived.

Man arrested for sexual abuse of four-year-old daughter

A retired 63-year-old civil servant was arrested earlier this week for allegedly having sexually assaulted his four-year-old daughter according to a report by Jornal Cheng Pou. The incident was first noticed and reported to social workers by the child’s mother, who had married the suspect in 2001. On Thursday, the mother had found her daughter behaving abnormally after arriving home from school accompanied by her father. The police reported that the man had allegedly committed the crime at the back stairs of his house, having touched the girl’s genitalia before taking her home. Prior similar situations are reported to have occurred five to six times, but the suspect has denied this accusation.

CASBAA’s convention to be held in Macau

Cable and Satellite Broadcasters Association of Asia (CASBAA), a non-profit media association serving the multi-channel audio-visual content creation and distribution industry, announced yesterday that its annual convention will be held in Macau for the first time. “We are delighted to announce that the 22nd CASBAA Convention will be held in Macau at Studio City, from November 7 to 10, 2016,” said the organization’s CEO Christopher Slaughter.  “It will be the first time ever for CASBAA to hold an event in Macau. We are thrilled to be bringing the region’s pay-TV industry together to experience all that this exciting city has to offer.”
