New tunnels linking Macau and Taipa assessed

According to a notice published in the Official Gazette, a transport and infrastructure firm will study the feasibility for the construction of two tunnels linking Macau and Taipa. CCCC Highways Consultants Co., a subsidiary of state-owned transportation infrastructure group, China Communications Construction Company, will consider the potential for the two tunnels to be constructed alongside the existing Nobre de Carvalho Bridge. An order from the Chief Executive has officially authorized the conclusion of the contract with the company, amounting to MOP7.22 million. It will be paid by 2020 according to the Official Gazette.

Macanese Communities Meeting to be held in November

The chairman of the Council of the Macanese Communities, Leonel Alves, attended a meeting with the Chief Executive (CE), during which he invited Chui Sai On to be an Honorary Member of the Council. Alves was received by the CE in a meeting also attended by José Luís Sales Marques, president of the Organizing Committee of the 2016 Annual Macanese Communities Meeting. The event takes place every three years in the territory. On the occasion Chui Sai On stressed the importance of the meeting for Macanese communities, saying, “Macau is the home of all Macanese.” In his turn, Alves stated that this year’s edition of the event will take place in late November. Marques added that about 800 people have already enrolled to participate in the meeting, but believes that this number will further increase as the event date gets closer.
