The Health Bureau (SSM) reported two imported cases of Chikungunya fever, marking the 15th and 16th imported cases in Macau this year.

In a statement released yesterday, the bureau said the 15th case involves a 58-year-old male Macau resident living in Edificio Weng Hoi, Block 4, Fai Chi Kei.

The patient traveled to Zhuhai on September 7-8 and visited Jiangmen City on September 12.

He developed symptoms including fever and joint pain on September 16 and sought medical attention at the Fai Chi Kei Health Center on September 17. His blood sample tested positive for the Chikungunya virus the same day.

The 16th case is a 52-year-old male Macau resident residing in Cheng I Building, Avenida do General Castelo Branco. He visited Jiangmen City from September 10-12 and developed fever and swollen feet on September 16.

He sought care at Kiang Wu Hospital on September 17, and his blood sample also tested positive for the Chikungunya virus that day.

Both patients are currently in stable condition and have been hospitalized for treatment.
