The Buzz | Macau’s Ávila closes ‘racing marathon’ with strong results

Macau race driver Rodolfo Ávila yesterday concluded a series of eight races in six days in the China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) with a strong showing.
The local racer took the Volkswagen Lamando number 2 to several podiums, closing the eight-race stint with three second-positions, two third-positions as well as a fifth and a seventh position.
Ávila was very close to achieving an even better result, but during the last race, a mechanical failure on his car when he was comfortably in the lead robbed his hopes of climbing to the top position of the podium.
The series of races was held at Hunan’s Zhuzhou International Circuit.
The CTCC now moves to the Shanghai International Circuit where on September 12 and 13, Ávila will continue to defend the colors of the 333 Racing Team in a condensed format of the championship because of Covid-19.
The 16-round championship is expected to come to a close at Zhuhai’s International Circuit on the weekend of October 31 and November 1.
