A 14-year-old boy was injured in an altercation involving several men and women in the northern district on Saturday night, with the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) stating that it is closely monitoring the incident involving minors reported by the police.
According to the Public Security Police Force (PSP), officers received a report from a residential building management office around 10 p.m. Saturday regarding an assault. Upon arrival, police learned that the minor had gone to the building lobby to look for a woman, where five men were also present. An argument broke out between the boy, the woman, and a 22-year-old man. The boy then pulled out a 30-centimeter-long knife, and in the ensuing chaos, both the boy and the young man were injured.
The boy was injured during the altercation and was taken to the hospital by ambulance alongside the 22-year-old man, police said, adding that the boy has since been discharged but, as of the PSP’s Sunday report, the 22-year-old remained hospitalized.
The case has been transferred to the Judiciary Police (PJ) for further investigation, with the cause of the incident yet to be disclosed.
In response, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) urged young people to strictly abide by the law, think twice before acting, and never break the law on a whim. The bureau also called on parents to monitor their children’s daily lives and social circles and to teach them proper values.
The DSEDJ said it is highly concerned about the incident and immediately coordinated with counseling agencies to provide necessary support to students and parents. Through an interdepartmental youth development and protection network, authorities will strengthen early warning and prevention efforts, using curricula, campus lectures, student counseling activities, and community events to provide legal education to young people.
