Uber announced the soft launch of the company’s services in Macau today. Its initial offering, UberBLACK, connects riders with drivers for a 5-star transportation experience at the tap of a button, providing Macau residents and tourists with a new safe, reliable, and high-quality transportation option.

Uber’s entry into the city has been eagerly anticipated, noted Uber Macau launcher Tomás Campos. “The demand in Macau even before we launched has been tremendous. To date, 127,000 users have opened up the app in Macau to see if they could get an Uber yet, including thousands of Macanese locals and users from 70 countries worldwide. We’re so excited to finally be here and look forward to returning the love!,” a press release from Uber (North Asia) communications department reads.

Macau Daily Times recently published an article revealing Uber was conducting market research in the territory. This topic will be further developed in our paper edition tomorrow.
