More than 230 internship and job opportunities focusing on technology and engineering sectors were offered at the University of Macau’s (UM) ‘2026 UM FST GBA T&E Career and Internship Fair’ held in the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

The event invited 25 companies and provided a platform for young graduates to gain experience across a variety of fields, including artificial intelligence, integrated circuits, software development, and network engineering.

Lam Chi Chiu, assistant dean of UM’s Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), stated that the university is a key platform for cultivating top-tier scientific talent.

He noted that UM has been actively expanding and deepening its collaboration with companies in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to offer students more extensive practical opportunities.

During the event, representatives from the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Cooperation Zone in Hengqin introduced employment support measures and internship protection policies for interested applicants, allowing students to gain a better understanding of the GBA job market and further promote talent integration and development between Hengqin and Macau.

In addition, at the fair, several services such as job matching, CV enhancement guidance, policy briefings, and mock interviews were offered.

Several UM students who attended the fair said that it not only provided employment opportunities but also addressed their questions about cross-border study, work, and daily life, boosting their confidence and determination to integrate into the GBA and seize emerging opportunities.

UM’s FST graduates more than 700 students every year. Through collaboration with renowned enterprises in the GBA, the faculty aims to expand career development opportunities for Macau youth, support their integration into the GBA, promote talent exchange, and foster collaborative innovation in the region’s science and engineering sectors.
