Visitor non-gaming spending rises in Q3, per-capita figures fall

Macau’s total non-gaming spending by visitors reached MOP20.38 billion in the third quarter of 2025, up 10.7% year-on-year, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

Spending by overnight visitors rose 7.6% to MOP16.76 billion, while same-day visitors increased 27.6% to MOP3.62 billion.

Despite growth in per-capita spending, MOP3,846 for overnight visitors (+5.0%) and MOP595 for same-day visitors (+3.5%), overall per-capita non-gaming expenditure fell 2.6% to MOP1,950, reflecting a surge in low-spending same-day visitors.

Visitors spent primarily on shopping (42.4%), followed by accommodation (26.7%) and food and beverages (21.2%).

Analyzed by source, per-capita spending of visitors from the Chinese mainland decreased 5.0% to MOP2,123, while those from Hong Kong rose 0.1% to MOP1,063 and Taiwan increased 9.8% to MOP2,335. International visitors spent an average of MOP2,261, up 3.3%.

Spending from Southeast Asian markets also grew, notably Singapore (+14.0%), Thailand (+11.9%), and Malaysia (+22.4%). Visitors attending MICE events (MOP4,488) or performances/competitions (MOP3,324) spent relatively more.

In the first three quarters, total non-gaming spending reached MOP58.25 billion, up 3.6% year-on-year, while overall per-capita spending dropped 9.5% to MOP1,963.
