150kg of fruits and vegetables seized

CHINA-VEGETABLE PRICES-RISE (CN)The Customs Service has inspected a car with license plates from both Zhuhai and Macau, having confiscated 150 kilograms of fruits and vegetables that were found on the backseat and in the trunk of the vehicle.
Four confirmed illegal records, occurring between 2014 and October of 2015, have also been related to that vehicle. The Customs Service has already prosecuted the two drivers involved in the case.
An operation conducted last week targeted food brought in by grey good traders. This operation involved investigations upon eight restaurants, resulting in a total seizure of about 586kg of goods imported without permission, including 330kg of vegetables and 19kg of processed food.
As the Chinese New Year approaches, authorities announced their intentions to expand their surveillance to ensure local food safety.
