The Sound and Image Challenge 2014 received a total of 397 movies from 56 countries, competing across the categories of Fiction, Animation, Documentary and Advertisement.
The pre-selection period ended on October 17 2014, with twenty short films selected for the final competition. The shortlisted works come from 15 countries and 5 different continents.
According to the Center for Creative Industries, commonly known as Creative Macau, this year’s partnership with the University of Saint Joseph’s Faculty of Creative Industries is “a great leap forward in the overall quality of the contest, revealed in the unprecedented number of participations.”
The shortlisted movies were sent to a jury comprising of 15 international experts, who will vote for the Best in Event award and select the best film in each category.
The 20 shortlisted movies will be screened on December 4 2014 in two sessions: 11am – 1:30 p.m.; and 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Macau Museum of Art, where the audience will have the opportunity to vote for the Best Public Award. The award ceremony and screening of the winning films will take place in the same venue, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. All events have free entry.
