76% of 2019 economy housing units sold, with one-bedroom units remaining

More than three-quarters of the economy housing units developed under the 2019 application scheme have been sold, with all two-bedroom and three-bedroom units now fully taken up, according to the latest data released by the Housing Bureau (IH).

A total of 2,306 out of 3,017 units across three residential towers in New Urban Zone A have been purchased, leaving 711 one-bedroom units still available.

Among households that have already selected their units, three-person families represent the largest group, accounting for 848 cases, or 37% of all selections. Two-person households follow closely, making up 31% of the total.

The bureau’s data also showed that among households that have passed substantive eligibility reviews, 2,306 have completed unit selection, while 157 are still awaiting their turn. A further 971 applications remain under review and are undergoing follow-up procedures.

Of the total applications, 1,265 households have been deemed ineligible and have completed the requisite legal proceedings, while 1,692 have voluntarily withdrawn their applications.

In terms of property transfer progress, occupancy permits have been issued for 450 units, while sale and purchase notarisation deeds have been finalised for 59 units.

The 2019 economy housing application round marks the last intake conducted under the former “Old Public Housing Law.”

Eligible households began selecting their units in March 2025.
