The Public Works Bureau (DSOP) said it is paying close attention to feedback from residents who have moved into public housing estates in the New Urban Zone A and will explore ways to make future projects better meet residents’ expectations.
The bureau was responding to a written inquiry from lawmaker Wong Kit Cheng regarding issues reported by residents, including the replacement of built-in fixtures, renovation works, and the provision of public facilities in the district.
DSOP said it maintains effective communication channels with contractors and property management companies. If residents encounter problems such as discolored water supplies or blocked exhaust ducts, contractors and management firms will follow up under existing mechanisms.
Meanwhile, the Housing Bureau, after consulting several government departments, said preliminary planning is underway for a public facilities building on plot B6 in Zone A. The planning covers the building’s functions, facilities, equipment, and interior design.
Authorities noted that surrounding infrastructure works in the district have yet to be completed. The government will continue to assess the area’s development progress, occupancy levels, and residents’ needs before gradually introducing additional community amenities.
Officials also said fresh food retail facilities will be introduced at an appropriate time to support the growing population in the area.
