By the end of 2015 Angola will have an additional 2,000 hotel rooms, said Tuesday in Luena, Moxico province, the State Secretary for Hotels and Tourism, Paulino Baptista Domingos, cited by Angolan news agency Angop.
The Secretary of State, who attended the inauguration of Hotel Kawissa, said the new rooms were the result of the opening of 25 hotels of various categories by the end of 2015, and which are currently under construction.
Baptista highlighted the Intercontinental Hotel under construction in Luanda, which upon completion will have 390 rooms, Hotel Palanca in Malanje, with 146 rooms and 20 others under construction in another of the country’s five provinces.
The Secretary of State said he believed these hotel units would significantly change the history of Angola, in terms of accommodation and tourism services and would make it possible to create thousands of new jobs in a sector that already employs more than 202,000 people.
The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism currently has 14,000 rooms registered distributed over 185 hotels, 88 tourist villages, 14 apartment hotels and six inns. MDT/Macauhub
