Briefs | Travel security alert to Turkey

The Tourism Crisis Management Office published a travel security alert issued by the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Turkey and regarding the recent security situation in the country. “Recently there were several anti-Chinese demonstrations in Turkey, during which some Chinese tourists were attacked. The Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Turkey reminds Chinese citizens in Turkey to strengthen security precautions to protect their personal safety, not to approach or film the protesters and as much as possible to maintain in their residences,” the alert reads.

Local athlete Wong Mei Shan 黃美珊 who passed away on June 17 upon arrival in Poland’s Poznan city for the 2015 Boccia World Open will return home Thursday. The body will be received by a funeral service at Kiang Wu Hospital. According to the Macau-China Paralympic Committee, Ms Wong had participated in Boccia for over ten years. She was also active in promoting sports activities for the disabled in local society through working at the Committee. A memorial ceremony was held for her at the World Open’s closing ceremony and condolences have been sent from different regions’ Paralympic committees. The athlete reportedly felt unwell when arriving in Poznan; her condition soon deteriorated after being sent to the hospital for treatment.

Self-service for MSAR travel permit application

Following the introduction of self-service kiosks for MSAR passport application and Permanent Resident Identity Card renewal, the Identification Services Bureau is now introducing the self-service process for MSAR Travel Permit applications. The kiosk was put into official use in July 2015. Citizens can submit their application on their own and do not need to obtain a number tag in advance to use the self-service kiosks. Chinese nationals who are aged above 18 and are not required to apply for any other travel documents can use the self-service kiosk to submit their initial application for the Travel Permit, or to renew their permit within 9 months prior to the expiry date of their document.
