CE meets Guangdong Governor to strengthen cooperation

The Chief Executive (CE) of Macau, Sam Hou Fai, held a meeting with Guangdong Province Governor Wang Weizhong last Friday to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two regions and advancing the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the Guangdong-Macau Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

During the meeting at the government headquarters, CE Sam emphasized the strong and growing ties between Macau and Guangdong, noting the frequent exchanges in various fields that have deepened their cooperation.

Looking to the future, Sam stressed the need for Guangdong-Macau cooperation to reach higher levels and expand into more diverse areas. Both sides, he said, must continue to strengthen their cooperation mechanisms and work together on initiatives that foster greater synergy for the benefit of both regions.

Sam also outlined plans to accelerate the second phase of construction in the Cooperation Zone, with a focus on promoting high-level economic coordination and aligning regulatory frameworks between Macau and the Cooperation Zone.

He noted that these efforts, particularly on the legal front, would inject new momentum into the sustained development of both Guangdong and Macau, while better supporting the broader national development strategy.

The meeting also touched on preparations for the National Games, which, according to Sam, are progressing as planned.
