The Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) announced that, following discussions with the government, it will allocate MOP30 million next year to subsidize the upgrading of public electrical installations in older buildings in low-lying areas. The subsidy is expected to cover over 80% of the costs, with owners responsible for a fixed fee of at least MOP1,000 per household. Priority will be given to buildings over 30 years old that have not received relevant subsidies from the Housing Bureau in the past three years, as well as low-lying structures affected by flooding. This subsidy program focuses on upgrading main distribution boards. Unlike previous initiatives for low-rise old buildings, participating buildings in this program will only need to pay a fixed amount.
