Construction wage index falls 1.9% in 2025

The average real wage index for construction workers fell 1.9% year-on-year in 2025, after adjusting for inflation, to 90.8, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). The average price index of residential building materials also dropped 1.1% to 122.3. By occupation, painters saw a 5.8% rise in real wages, while masons and plasterers recorded a 3% decline. As regards construction materials, the price indices of timber and concrete decreased by 1.8% and 1.4% respectively year-on-year in 2025, while that of electric wires increased by 2.1%.
