Local authorities announced that starting today, foreign passport holders can use the “automated immigration clearance channels” at the Zhuhai-Macau Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB), in addition to the Hengqin checkpoint. Eligible travelers must be at least seven years old, at least 1.2 meters tall, and possess either a permanent resident identity card for foreigners issued by China or a residence permit valid for six months or longer. They must also fulfill visa exemption or pre-entry permit requirements for entering Macau. The pilot program at the Hengqin checkpoint launched on October 28, 2024, with 34,000 travelers using the channels last year, as noted by the authorities.
