YOHO Mall’s flagship retailer, Galeries Lafayette, has quietly closed its doors sometime last week, the Times learned.
Following the closure of the high-end commercial space, YOHO Group has announced a “double upgrade” of its Treasure Island complex, shifting toward family-oriented dining and expanding hotel capacity.
The Galeries Lafayette signage at the venue’s entrances has also been removed since then.
Galeries Lafayette, introduced by Forward Fashion Holdings, opened as the first of its kind in Hong Kong and Macau on Jan. 26, two years ago. It occupied a 35,000-square-foot space across L001 and L/F levels in the Resorts World Shopping Centre. The retailer stocked luxury fashion, beauty products, jewelry, accessories, and more.
During a Times visit to the venue yesterday, on-site staff confirmed that the space that once housed the upscale French department store is now “completely empty and cleared.” An announcement on the venue’s L floor, dated Feb. 2, 2026, states, “This floor is currently under renovation, noting a few business names that continue to operate.
When approached for details on the renovation, one staffer told The Times, “Maybe next month there will be something else to replace it. They are currently carrying out construction and will replace it completely.” Regarding the exact closure timeline, the staffer added, “The venue has definitely been completely closed [for] around a week now.”
Future Plans
According to industry sources, the broader transformation renames the mall YOHOMALL The Lakeside Shoppes. Moreover, according to a recent ExMoo post on RedNote, the complex appears poised to pivot from high-end retail to mid-to-high-end specialty dining.
According to the same source, YOHO will also increase its room count to 804, positioning it as the Peninsula’s largest single hotel by room count. It also reports that a new multifunctional conference center with upgraded equipment will be established on the third floor, with completion scheduled for mid-year.
Since late 2024, several social media reviews have painted a picture of chronically low traffic at the venue. Visitors noted that most beauty and fragrance kiosks and fashion stores at the Galeries were staffed with only one employee. Over time, several brands were reported to share a single salesperson.
