At the end of 2025, Macau had a total of 183,679 non-resident workers (TNR), according to data from the Public Security Police Force (PSP).

The figure represents an increase of 1,137 people (0.62%) relative to the 182,542 TNR employed in Macau at the end of 2024.

The figures also indicate a significant slowdown in the growth of the number of these workers, who had recorded a 3.3% increase in the previous year.

Although the figure has been increasing at different rates in recent years, it remains well below the pre-pandemic level, when the number of TNR reached 196,538.

The increase recorded in 2025 was related to the importation of labor for domestic work, as the statistical data from PSP clearly shows that in this particular group, there was an increase of 1,176 workers when compared to 2024, a number that is higher than the total increase.

In total, approximately 28,611 TNR were performing domestic work.

Despite a slight decline in TNR across other industries, hospitality remained the sector with the highest TNR in 2025, with 53,900 workers, followed by construction with 25,700. Almost 24,000 workers were employed in Real Estate and services related to companies, and another 20,700 were employed by the retail trade.

The vast majority (over 65%) of the TNRs working in Macau were from the mainland (120,465), while those from the Philippines were the second-largest group, at approximately 31,926 (17%). Indonesia (8,304) and Vietnam (7,850) ranked second and third, respectively, among foreign countries supplying the largest number of non-resident workers to Macau.

This ranking remained largely unchanged from the previous year, with only a swap between Vietnam and Indonesia in the third and fourth positions overall.
