Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) is fully committed to the Macau SAR Government’s “Building Macau through Talent Training” policy, and works tirelessly to promote the holistic development of young talents in Macau. Yesterday, GEG was presented a Gold Award for the Youth Empowerment Initiative under the Sustainability and Social Responsibility Category at the 2024 Pacific Asia Travel Association (“PATA”) Gold Award Ceremony held in Bangkok, Thailand, showcasing GEG’s long-term contribution and unremitting efforts to youth and talent cultivation. Its award-winning “Galaxy Entertainment Group – Nurturing Macau’s Future Leaders and Cultivating Our Team Members” project, encompasses nearly 50 activities and programs held in 2023 across the five aspects of sports, science and technology, arts and culture, career exploration and advancement, and healthy development.
As a premier annual awards event for tourism industry, the PATA Gold Award recognizes excellence and innovation in the tourism industry. Yesterday afternoon, Mr. Buddy Lam, Director of Corporate Affairs of GEG, accepted the award on GEG’s behalf from Mr. Peter Semone, Chairman of PATA, Mr. Noor Ahmad Hamid, Chief Executive Officer of PATA, and Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of Macao Government Tourism Office. This is the third time that GEG received the PATA Gold Award for initiative in different areas of Sustainability and Social Responsibility. The last two awards were obtained in 2021 and 2023. Mr. Buddy Lam said, “GEG recognizes the importance of talent cultivation to Macau’s sustainable development and we are honored to be recognized by PATA once again for our efforts. GEG has dedicated enormous resources to support the nurturing of local talent and empowering our team members over the years, using various approaches to enhance their comprehensive competitiveness and broaden their international perspectives.”
Over the years, GEG has helped Macau cultivate outstanding talents in different fields. With respect to sports, GEG created opportunities for sports exchanges and encouraged young athletes to excel by organizing international sports events and local community activities such as the “WTT Champions Macao 2023 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group”, the “Galaxy Entertainment Group 2023 the 11th Yao Foundation Charity Game” and the “Galaxy Entertainment Group Presents – We are Macau Athletes” program. On the topic of science and technology, GEG promoted popular science education for youth by co-organizing the “Youth Science and Technology Village” program to provide professional training for students with scientific and technological expertise and nurturing them to become local elites in the field of science and technological innovation. Moreover, GEG also introduced science and technology elements to the “GEG Macau Cup – the 15th Youth National Education Competition” to strengthen students’ understanding of the Motherland’s science and technology development. Meanwhile, through a number of internationally renowned arts and cultural activities, and a range of guided tours and workshops held at the art exhibitions at GalaxyArt, GEG also enriched Macau’s arts and cultural offerings and deepened the artistic and cultural literacy of the young generation. Emphasizing on the career development and growth of local youth and its team members, GEG also provided them with appropriate training and internship opportunities through various initiatives, such as the U-LEAD Graduate Internship Program, and the “Integrated Resort Youth Development Program” that allowed them to give full play to their strengths. Committed to creating a healthy and safe working environment for its team members, GEG was one of the first enterprises to participate in the Healthy Enterprise Program, in hopes of encouraging and supporting its team members to develop healthy lifestyle habits through diverse health promotion measures. For many years, GEG has also been co-organizing many different mental health activities with local social service organizations to raise team members’ health and occupational safety awareness.
GEG has been facilitating Macau’s sustainable development, and has been granted the PATA Gold Awards twice before, including the Gold Award for Climate Change Initiative in 2023 and the Gold Award for Culture (Traditional Performance and Visual Arts) in 2021. Moving forward, GEG will continue to uphold its philosophy of “What is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community” and promote talent cultivation in Macau by organizing, sponsoring and supporting a series of rich activities and programs, helping local youth and team members explore their potential, break boundaries by diverse approaches, and will work closely with all parties to help improving young people’s core competitiveness and establishing positive values, achieving personal and all-round growth, thereby cultivating future leaders for Macau’s diversified development.
