Global AI expo opens across Macau and Zhuhai

The inaugural Global Artificial Intelligence Machines and Electronics Expo (AIE) opened today in Macau and Zhuhai under a “one exhibition, two cities” format. Events in Macau are being held at the Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo, while activities in Zhuhai are taking place at the International Convention and Exhibition Center. The three-day event will welcome industry professionals on the first two days before opening to the public on the final day.

Themed “Bay Area Intelligence, Globally Embraced,” the expo highlights the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’s strength in intelligent manufacturing and tech innovation. It spans a total exhibition area of 70,000 square meters, including 40,000 square meters in Macau.

The expo also aims to promote development in the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

According to organizers, the event is expected to attract more than 1,000 buyers from around the world, creating new links between the GBA and the global tech industry.

In June, Hengqin authorities said Guangdong and Macau would strengthen logistics support during AIE by operating direct buses from Macau and Hong Kong to Zhuhai and by implementing visa and customs facilitation measures.

During the expo, visitors can explore six specialized pavilions showcasing cutting-edge technologies. In Macau, three themed pavilions will focus on Intelligent Communication and IoT (Internet of Things), Intelligent Audio-Visual and the Metaverse, and Venture Innovation and International Business. In Zhuhai, three pavilions will center on Intelligent Equipment and the Industrial Internet, Intelligent Transportation and Future Mobility, and Smart Home and Health Technology, supported by multiple side activities.

The Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) anticipates that the event will bring together more than 1,000 companies and thousands of buyers from over 30 countries.

According to organizers, major international firms such as Amazon, Honor, vivo, Oppo, and Intel are among the participants.

Regarding product launch events, IPIM wrote in an announcement yesterday, “vivo will launch products and technologies making their global or national debut on-site, showcasing the impact of Macau’s ‘first-launch economy.’”
