Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai stated that the eighth Legislative Assembly election achieved “expected results,” with a voter turnout of 175,272 reflecting the “active participation” of the general electorate.

In a written message following the conclusion of the election, the Chief Executive expressed gratitude to the electorate for their “enthusiastic participation” in casting their votes, as well as to the Legislative Assembly Electoral Affairs Commission (CAEAL) and all civil servants and security personnel involved in election duties at various posts, who “ensured that the elections proceeded smoothly and in an orderly manner in accordance with the law.”

“Today, Macau is enveloped in a vibrant atmosphere of harmony and friendship as the elections take center stage,” he remarked.

Sam noted that through this “concrete action,” the general electorate elected representatives to the Macau Legislative Assembly, thereby contributing to the steady and far-reaching implementation of the ‘One country, two systems’ principle in the SAR.

The message also outlined Sam’s schedule for election day, which included visits to the CAEAL Coordination Center and various polling stations to “cheer on” his colleagues.

During his visits, he remarked, “I saw many voters braving the scorching heat, walking from their neighborhoods to polling stations from morning till night. Among them were both the elderly and the young. Their active participation in this Legislative Assembly election deeply moved me.”
