The Composite Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Macau rose 0.77% in May from a year earlier, according to figures released Wednesday by the Statistics and Census Service. The price indices for education saw the largest increase of 5.06% year-over-year in May. Health costs rose 2.76% and clothing and footwear prices grew 2.60%. Food and non-alcoholic beverages increased 1.20% while housing and fuels grew 0.57%. Transportation costs fell 2.99% and recreation and culture dipped 0.91%. For the 12 months ending in May, average inflation was 1.03% led by gains in education, recreation and culture, and clothing and footwear prices.
