MGM China confirms settlement of legal matter involving Hong Kong actor

MGM China has confirmed that a legal dispute linked to gambling debts involving Hong Kong actor Jacky Heung Cho has been fully resolved. In a statement released just before 1 a.m. yesterday, the casino operator said all payments related to the matter have been settled and the legal procedures have been terminated.
The announcement came after media reports about court action initiated against Heung for unpaid gambling debts amounting to HKD1.4 million. These reports stated Heung had borrowed HKD2 million last December and converted it into betting chips but had only partially repaid the amount.
MGM China clarified in its statement that the issue arose from Heung acting as a credit guarantor for a third party who failed to make overdue payments, prompting the company to take standard legal steps.
“Recently, all payments have been fully settled and the corresponding legal procedures have been terminated,” the company said.
The statement also expressed concern over inaccurate or speculative media coverage, noting it was “not our usual practice to engage with media regarding our internal gaming operational administrative processes.”
MGM urged the media and public to refrain from spreading misleading information, adding it would make “no further comments.”
Heung acting as a credit guarantor was not mentioned in the court document filed with the Hong Kong District Court on July 3. NS
