Mobile payments rise 12% in q1, credit card use slightly down

The Monetary Authority of Macao reported 90.39 million mobile payment transactions in the first quarter of 2025, up 11.6% year-on-year. Total transaction value reached MOP7.9 billion, marking an 8.7% increase, with an average of MOP87.80 per transaction. By the end of March, there were 108,000 mobile payment terminals and QR code stands across Macau. Meanwhile, credit card spending totaled MOP5.9 billion, down 0.2% year-on-year. Cash advances accounted for MOP150 million, or 2.6% of the total. Debit card transactions totaled MOP460 million.
