More Macau firms attend CIIE in Shanghai this year

A total of 41 firms from the SAR are attending the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai scheduled for Nov. 5-10, an increase of 17% compared with last year.

SAR Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng led a delegation to Shanghai Saturday to attend the sixth CIIE.

Nearly 50 Macau entrepreneurs left for Shanghai Saturday as members of the delegation participating in the CIIE this year. This is the sixth year in a row that Macau has organized local enterprises for the event, according to the government.

At this year’s expo, two pavilions will showcase food and beverages made in Macau and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs) as well as professional services, such as accounting and taxation, provided by Macau and PSCs.

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute has said the number of Macau enterprises it had organized to attend the CIIE in previous years was over 200, making the expo an important channel for Macau enterprises to explore mainland and even overseas markets. 

This year’s CIIE fully resumes offline activities, and is expected to welcome guests from 154 countries, regions, and international organizations. So far, 69 countries and three international organizations have confirmed their participation in the Country Exhibition.

Over 3,400 exhibitors and nearly 410,000 professional visitors have registered for the event, with a record number of Global Fortune 500 companies and industry leaders in attendance.
