MPay launches ride-hailing service

MPay recently integrated the Amap Ride-Hailing service (Gaode) into its platform, enabling residents of Macau and the Chinese mainland to hail and pay for taxis through its app.

MPay, developed by Macau Pass in 2018, has been a leading financial technology platform promoting mobile payments in Macau since 2015.

In 2022, AGTech Holdings Limited (8279.HK), an Alibaba affiliate, acquired Macau Pass for HKD778 million, allowing it to benefit from a wider range of services provided through the Alipay system.

The addition of Amap Ride-Hailing expands MPay’s capabilities by offering a one-stop solution for both users and taxi services without requiring users to download additional apps.

The service currently includes a first batch of black taxis and features intelligent route planning and one-click payment options.

This expansion also addresses the growing demand for accessible and smart transportation options in Macau.

Beyond ride-hailing, MPay previously said it continues to enhance regional travel convenience through mini-programs for air, ferry, and metro services.

Notably, MPay supports travel across Guangzhou’s metro, buses, ferries, and Foshan Metro, with users able to activate these services via the app’s “Cross-Border Zone.”

Additionally, MPay facilitates payments in over 50 countries worldwide through Alipay+.
