Nearly 1,300 young fencers from around the world gathered in Macau over the weekend as the 2025 Sands China Asian Youth Elite Fencing League – Macao opened with a ceremony at Cotai Expo Hall A at The Venetian Macao.
The Dec. 26–28 competition, co-organised by Sands China Ltd. and Asia Sports Development Ltd. has attracted participants aged 6 to 14 from Macau, the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, as well as several countries across Asia, Europe, Oceania, and North America.
Now in its second year, the event has expanded its program to include individual competitions for the under-6 category and new team events for under-8 and under-12 fencers, broadening participation among young athletes.
Ahead of the tournament, organisers hosted a fencing camp featuring Olympic champions and elite coaches, offering technical training and mentorship. Olympic gold medallist Lei Sheng also shared insights with young local fencers during the opening ceremony.
