October was responsible for almost 3.5 million visitors, up 10.8% y-o-y

Official statistics released by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) showed that a total of 3,472,477 visitor arrivals were recorded in October 2025. This number marks a 10.75% increase year-over-year and a 25.13% rise month-over-month.

According to DSEC, same-day visitors (2,103,520) made up the largest share of growth, increasing 17.6% year-over-year.

Meanwhile, the number of overnight visitors (1,368,957) also rose, but only by 1.7% year-over-year.

Statistics also show that the average length of stay for visitors remained steady at 1.1 days, while that for overnight visitors increased by 0.1 day to 2.4 days.

Regarding the source of visitors, those from the mainland rose by 12% y-o-y to 2,534,601, with the largest increase of 22.6% seen in travelers under the Individual Visit Scheme (1,321,511).

Among mainland visitors, 214,368 traveled under the “one trip per week measure,” 97,365 under the “multiple-entry measure,” and 11,667 under the “tourist group multi-entry measure.”

Additionally, visitors from the nine Pearl River Delta cities in the Greater Bay Area increased by 13.8% year-over-year to 1,318,837, driven by a 50.9% surge in visitors from Zhuhai.

Visitors from Taiwan (92,165) increased by 34.2%, while those from Hong Kong (584,767) declined by 1%.

The figures from DSEC also show that the total number of visitor arrivals for the first 10 months of this year has already exceeded 33 million. This figure suggests that, along with the surge of visitors recorded this month and the typical busy month of December, the total should reach 40 million visitors before the end of the year.

Last year, Macau received almost 35 million visitors, a figure that should already have been surpassed, although no official figure has yet been released.

On average, visitor arrivals during the first 10 months of this year have increased by over 14%.

In October, the total number of international visitors surged to 260,944, up 22.9% y-o-y.

In Southeast Asian markets, visitors from Thailand (26,299) increased by 118.5% year-over-year, while those from the Philippines (44,863), Indonesia (16,985), Malaysia (16,206), and Singapore (10,140) grew by 15.3%, 24.7%, 1.8%, and 6.1%, respectively.

In South Asian markets, visitors from India (11,143) increased by 36.8% year-over-year, while in Northeast Asian markets, visitors from the Republic of Korea (52,057) and Japan (12,675) grew by 10.6% and 32.1%, respectively.

Analysis by the checkpoint indicates that 82.3% of total visitor arrivals occurred by land (2,858,679). This figure shows a 12.6% increase compared to last year. Among these, arrivals through the Border Gate checkpoint and the Hengqin port rose by 17% and 36.9%, respectively.
