Sands China hosts reverse business matching for smart tourism innovation

Sands China Ltd., in collaboration with the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) and the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT), recently held the first “Macao Hengqin Technological Innovation Industry-Academia-Research Reverse Business Matching” event at The Londoner Macao.

Unlike traditional business matching, the event invited academic and research institutions from Macau and Hengqin to propose tailored solutions based on Sands China’s current operational needs.

The goal is to promote smart tourism innovation and foster collaboration between industry, academia, and research sectors.

Around 140 participants joined the initiative, which includes six months of follow-up and regular progress reviews. According to the gaming operator, the event supports the SAR government’s “1+4” diversification strategy and aims to transform research into practical applications.

Secretary for Economy and Finance Tai Kin Ip and Sands China CEO Grant Chum both highlighted the role of technology in driving high-quality development and expressed hope for wider industry participation.
