Three mainland Chinese suspects have been arrested for allegedly stealing casino chips under the pretense of placing bets on behalf of others. Judiciary Police said the trio distracted victims at gaming tables by blocking their view and chatting, then took chips and later claimed losses. Officers caught them in the act during an anti-fraud patrol in Cotai on Aug. 19. Investigations link them to at least five similar cases since mid-July, involving HKD100,000.
