Three fall victim to online task scams, one duped twice

Three Macau residents have fallen victim to online task scams, with losses ranging from about MOP8,400 to MOP32,000, according to the Judiciary Police. One victim was allegedly defrauded twice after seeking help to recover money lost in an earlier scam. Police said the man transferred funds and later purchased cryptocurrency after being contacted by individuals posing as a lawyer and an Interpol officer. Two other victims also lost money after being persuaded to make additional payments to complete online tasks.
