Trade deficit hits MOP9.4 billion in April

Macau’s merchandise trade deficit reached MOP9.4 billion in April 2025, as exports fell 7.7% year-on-year to MOP1.12 billion while imports dropped 4% to MOP10.53 billion, according to the Statistics and Census Service. From January to April, exports rose 2.4% year-on-year but imports dropped 5.4%, narrowing the trade deficit to MOP36.16 billion. Key export gains included garments and cosmetics, while jewellery and bakery products saw sharp declines. Import growth was seen in food and optical instruments.
