Woman fatally stabs longtime friend over relationship issues

A mainland woman traveled to Macau with premeditation and fatally stabbed a longtime female friend over relationship issues, inflicting over 30 stab wounds with three knives in a hotel room in Taipa.

The Judiciary Police (PJ) announced on Thursday that they would release details of a case involving a woman suspected of being fatally stabbed by another woman.

Further details were disclosed at a press conference on Saturday morning, where police identified the arrestee as a 33-year-old mainland Chinese woman who claimed to be a social worker.

On Wednesday, she entered Macau carrying a small dagger with a 10-centimeter blade and later purchased two additional daggers with 16-centimeter blades, along with a cleaver, at a shopping mall in the city’s central district.

The two women met at a hotel on Thursday, and approximately 20 minutes after entering the room, the suspect called the hotel front desk for assistance, with her hand requiring bandaging due to a cut.

According to police, the suspect and victim had known each other since secondary school. The deceased, a mainland Chinese female blue-card holder in her 30s, had been employed at a Macau educational institution since last August; the two had previously arranged to meet in Macau this October.

“The crime scene showed clear signs of a struggle, with multiple bloodstains on the floor and walls. Two bloodstained knives were recovered from the scene,” said a PJ spokesman, adding, “Preliminary autopsy results indicate the victim sustained over 30 stab wounds to the right rear of the head, neck, and left chest. The victim’s left-hand fingers showed open fractures from knife injuries, while multiple penetrating chest wounds were identified as the fatal injuries.”

Police believe the case involves a romantic dispute and suspect that the perpetrator planned the crime in advance by preparing the weapons. The exact cause of death and detailed circumstances remain pending further autopsy results.
