The Zhuhai health authority is calling on mainland residents to celebrate National Day at home and avoid going to medium-risk or high-risk areas.
For the upcoming National Day holidays, Zhuhai authorities have called on residents to reduce visits to other cities as much as possible due to the current pandemic, according to the statement published by the Zhuhai-Macau Joint Prevention and Control Working Group.
Residents who need to go to medium-risk or high-risk areas, must hold a green health code and provide a negative nucleic acid test (NAT) result within 48 hours.
The group reminded residents who returned to Zhuhai, that they are required to carry out two NAT tests within three days, complete a health declaration through their mobile phone, and complete their first NAT test when they arrive in Zhuhai.
Furthermore, after returning to Zhuhai, residents are advised for the first three days, to avoid taking public transportation and participating in large gatherings, and not to travel between residences and workplaces, for their own protection as well as that of others.
Meanwhile, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is gearing up for the National Day Golden Week Holiday starting this weekend, boosting efforts in destination marketing and promotion of special offers.
As part of ongoing partnerships with e-commerce companies, the office highlights a series of special offers including 50%-off hotel coupons and “buy-one-get-one-free-plus” air tickets during the Golden Week on different platforms, in a bid to attract mainland residents to Macau for longer vacations and a greater boost in tourists’ spending.
Lou Chi Leong, director of the Macau Hoteliers & Innkeepers Association, remained highly confident on the business performance during the upcoming National Day Golden Week holiday, anticipating the hotel occupancy rate to further elevate to above 70%, with most of the customers projected to extend their stays to three days, as cited in a report issued by Macao Daily News.
