The annual gala of the Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau will be staged once more in Macau, the company announced.
The event will take place on Mar. 14, marking the 16th edition of the annual ceremony for Hong Kong and Macau’s restaurants.
Similar to last year, the Michelin ceremony will likely be hosted at both Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, and Grand Lisboa Macau. The two hotels continue as the event’s official partners.
In the statement from Michelin Guide, the company said it was following on from last year’s success in choosing to again host the ceremony in Macau. The company dubbed Macau a vibrant hub of culinary culture and experiences.
The event will once more bring together the culinary elite, industry professionals, and food enthusiasts to celebrate the region’s dining scene.
One of the event’s highlights is the Bib Gourmand selection, which will be announced one week before the event. This announcement will include a list of restaurants that offer both “good quality” and “good value cooking”. These restaurants will not be competing for Michelin Stars, which are the higher culinary awards.
As usual, all restaurants chosen by the Guide are subject to the same, key criteria used by all Michelin inspectors around the world. This criteria is fivefold: 1) the quality of ingredients used, 2) the mastery of cooking techniques, 3) the “harmony” of flavors, 4) the chef’s expression of their personality in their cooking, and 5) the consistency of excellence over time and across the entire menu.
The restaurant’s location, its décor, its service, and its available facilities are not part of the selection criteria.
