CAEAL briefs the education sector on elections

The Legislative Assembly Electoral Affairs Commission (CAEAL) held a briefing session to introduce the Legislative Assembly’s electoral system to the education sector. During the session, it emphasized that elections provide a valuable opportunity for civic education, allowing schools to teach students about the electoral process and the principles of legality, fairness, and integrity. CAEAL stressed that public schools must remain neutral during elections and avoid using their facilities for campaigning. While the election law does not impose specific regulations on private schools, they may make arrangements within legal frameworks. Concurrently, the Education and Youth Development Bureau announced plans to organize mock voting for students and develop educational materials to enhance their understanding of election laws and their rights and responsibilities as voters
