In July, MGM offered their support to local senior citizens through two programs titled “Love Flows Through” and “Haircut for Love,” in an effort to care for the elderly community of Macau.

The “Love Flows Through” program provided complimentary maintenance of household electrical appliances and installations to 30 local senior citizens. A team of electrical technicians from facilities management led by Mel Hansen, Senior Vice President of Design, Development and Construction of MGM, along with MGM volunteer team members, visited the Fai Chi Kei Social Housing Unit to help repair and replace the citizens’ appliance plugs.

Executive Director of Facilities Management Operations, Edmund Choi, participated in the program and said, “Replacing appliance plugs is just a small gesture, but it can improve the elderly’s livelihood.”

The “Haircut for Love” program offered complimentary haircut services to a total of 180 senior citizens, among which were seniors with mobility impairment. A total of 15 volunteer haircut team members offered their services at three centers.

“MGM volunteers are so warm at heart,” said one of the elderly, Fong. “They not only did my haircut, but they were also very concerned about how I wanted it done.”

According to a press release from MGM, the volunteer haircut team was established in 2015 and provides complimentary haircuts for local senior citizens on a monthly basis.

New menu at hotel Royal Macau’s Fado

Fado’s Executive Chef, Luis Américo, has incorporated key Portuguese ingredients with new elements to present the new “Chef’s Specials” menu.

Appetizer options range from “Suckling Pig Pie with Apple”, “Rocket Salad and Honey Mustard Sauce” and “Portuguese Style Cod Sashimi with Cold Tomato Soup, Olive Oil and Parsley.”  According to a press release from Hotel Royal, these elements are designed to pair seafood with the natural sweetness of cold tomato soup.

The main dishes available include “Pan Roasted Sea Bass With Fresh Clams”,  “Coriander and Sautéed Shrimp,” and  “Boar Cheek from Alentejo with Mushroom Bread Stew and Red Peppers Comfit.”

For dessert, the selection will include “Passion Fruit Mousse with Fresh Fruits and Chocolate” and “Caramelised Banana Pie with Pecan Nuts Nougat, Raisins and Custard Cream.”
