CPI rises 1.43% in May

Composite Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 1.43% year-on-year in May 2026 and 0.17% month-on-month, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). Over the 12 months to May, the average CPI increased 0.71% from the previous period. Price rises were driven mainly by higher costs in Transport, up 4.79% year-on-year due to fuel prices, and Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages, which rose 1.19% amid more expensive dining out and takeaway. Miscellaneous Goods & Services and Clothing & Footwear also increased 3.56% and 2.91% respectively.
