CRIME | Mainland man killed in illegal guesthouse

47-year-old man from the mainland has been killed in an illegal guesthouse in Taipa at the Edifício Palácio do Sucesso, the Judiciary Police (PJ) reported yesterday.

Initially, the police ruled out murder. Another two mainland men were also involved in the case, but only sustained injuries.

According to the PJ, the case was handed over to the bureau by the Public Security Police Force (PSP) yesterday morning at around 7:30 a.m. The police believe that the deceased and the other two men first became involved in a verbal fight, which was followed by a physical brawl. During the fight, the now-deceased man called the police to report the incident.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene after receiving the call, whereupon they sent the man to the emergency room of Conde S. Januário Hospital.

After forensic examination, the deceased was found to have a shallow wound on the right hand and a shallow bruise on the right side of both the face and neck. No other scars were found. The cause of death is yet to be determined. As for the other two injured men, there were knife wounds in the right palm, left side of the chest and right shoulder.

The deceased had been drinking alcohol before the fight.

The case is currently under investigation. the PJ will publicize any future updates.
