DSAL, FAOM to jointly host training workshops for job seekers

This month, the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FOAM) will co-organize 12 workshops to “improve the abilities of local job seekers,” the bureau has announced. Representatives from local enterprises will lead the workshops. Meanwhile, as the city sees a tourist influx and will see the introduction of new facilities at hotels and resorts, the bureau will “focus on job-matching in all directions” in February, as well as offering job seekers support. In January, local casino operators offered 500 vacancies in six separate job-matching sessions, but no successful matching data has been released.

Drug bureau recalls antidepressant due to impurities

The Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau (ISAF) has announced the recall of a Canadian-made antidepressant called Apo-Amitriptyline. The manufacturer, Apotex Inc., requested the recall. The affected medicine comes in bottles with 1000 tablets of 10mg each. The bureau has called for residents with product from batch number PY1904 to return it to the bureau. The recall comes as the manufacturer discovered impurities – N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) – at higher than expected levels in the medicine. The bureau is in close contact with local hospitals about the recall order.

Top secretary, ExCo members visit San Ma Lo, resort non-gambling facilities

The Secretary for Administration and Justice and spokesperson of the Executive Council (ExCo), André Cheong, along with several Exco members, yesterday visited the San Ma Lo pedestrian event and non-gambling facilities at six local resorts. The delegation visited MGM Cotai, Galaxy Macau, The Venetian Macao, City of Dreams, Wynn Palace and the Grand Lisboa Palace. The visit was to inspect the effectiveness of the San Ma Lo event and get in touch with local businesses, as well as familiarize the officials with the non-gambling facilities and their operations.
