The Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) has issued a call to parents and schools to begin early preparations for the upcoming 2025/2026 school year.
In a recent statement, parents were advised by the bureau to prepare essentials such as school uniforms, supplies, and to finalize transportation arrangements well in advance.
With cases of dengue fever and chikungunya reported in Macau and nearby regions, the bureau highlighted the need to follow health authority guidelines strictly.
These include intensified campus cleaning, mosquito control measures, and the introduction of health monitoring systems once schools reopen.
“If any suspected symptoms among teachers or students are identified, they should be addressed promptly,” the bureau said, advising parents to watch for signs such as fever, joint pain, or rash.
Mental health was another focus addressed in the statement.
DSEDJ encouraged parents to maintain open communication with their children and help them establish balanced routines.
“At the start of the new school year, parents should pay more attention to their children’s exercise and daily routines, as well as their physical and mental health,” the bureau stated. Schools are also urged to closely monitor students’ emotional well-being, particularly newcomers and those advancing to higher grades.
In addition, DSEDJ advised families to plan school routes early, allow extra travel time, and stay updated on road and transport conditions.
With typhoon season underway, the bureau stated that in the event of severe weather, schools will activate contingency plans but will remain open to care for students already on campus.
