Macau to begin protective backfilling of archeological site

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) will commence protective backfilling of archaeological remains at the excavation site on Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro today. This initiative follows conservation recommendations from the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. To ensure public safety during the work, the Preservation and Exhibition Area and the permanent exhibition on the Maritime Silk Road will be temporarily closed, with work expected to be completed by early May. The reopening date will be announced later.
