MGM Earns Dual Accolades at TVB ESG Awards 2025 in Its Debut

In its inaugural entry into the TVB ESG Awards, MGM proudly secured two prestigious accolades: the Greater Bay Area ESG Excellence Enterprise Award (Macau SAR) and the ESG Special Recognition Award – with Merit. These honors mark a significant milestone for MGM, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.

Organized by Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), the TVB ESG Awards is an annual program that recognizes organizations demonstrating outstanding performance in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. Judged by a professional panel, the awards aim to promote corporate sustainability and encourage best practices across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

Driving Environmental Leadership

MGM has taken bold steps to support Macau’s green transition and carbon reduction goals. In 2024, MGM became the first integrated resort operator in Macau to fully transition to natural gas across all properties, significantly reducing carbon emissions. The company also achieved 100% electrification of its guest shuttle fleet, contributing to cleaner air quality and promoting sustainable transportation.

MGM’s properties champion green building standards. MGM COTAI remains the only hotel in Macau to achieve dual three-star certifications for both green building design and operation, while both MGM MACAU and MGM COTAI have achieved WELL Certification at the Platinum Level. These achievements demonstrate MGM’s commitment to creating healthier environments while setting new benchmarks for sustainable hospitality.

Empowering Communities

At MGM, social responsibility is at the core of its ESG strategy. Internally, the company prioritizes local talent development, with 91% of management positions held by Macau residents, and invests heavily in training and lifelong learning programs.

Externally, MGM drives cultural and economic growth through “Tourism+” initiatives, hosting over 140 events annually spanning arts, sports, gastronomy, and culture. In 2024, 33% of total procurement came from local SMEs, supported by large-scale business matching sessions to strengthen Macau’s industrial chain. A standout highlight is the Barra District Revitalization Project—breathing new life into this historic neighborhood through innovative initiatives and partnerships, creating a vibrant cultural hub. Additionally, MGM contributed 41,000 volunteer hours, benefiting 65,000 individuals through programs focused on youth education, elderly care, and cultural enrichment.

Strengthening Governance

MGM upholds a strong governance framework to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance. The company enforces a zero-tolerance policy on corruption and unethical practices, supported by robust risk management systems and independent whistleblowing channels. Committed to promoting the healthy and orderly development of Macau’s gaming industry, MGM actively advances responsible gaming through partnerships with local organizations and schools. Stakeholder engagement remains integral—MGM maintains open communication and conducts regular materiality assessments to align sustainability priorities with stakeholder expectations.
