After hosting over 300 business talks linking firms from China, Portugal, Brazil, Singapore, Thailand, and beyond, the 2026 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2026MIECF) concluded with a 30% surge in green agreements, organizers said.
The three-day event featured four themed matching sessions focused on new energy exports, Macao-Hengqin environmental co-operation, environmental technologies, and green buildings.
Discussions spanned the procurement of environmental products, the application of energy-saving technologies, and the construction of green infrastructure.
MIECF organizers said exhibitors overcame overseas expansion hurdles, including finding buyers, navigating unfamiliar markets, and improving matching efficiency, cementing Macau’s role as an international gateway for green trade.
It also affirmed that the local government will continue to strengthen cooperation with partners in mainland and with international counterparts to promote upgrades to Macau’s green industrial chain and to support local enterprises in expanding overseas.
According to MIECF organizers, the Guangdong Association of Environmental Protection Industry secured preliminary pacts on waste management and noise monitoring with government agencies. The association now eyes further growth into Southeast Asia and Portuguese-speaking markets through Macau’s platform. NS
